I have been contacted by Archie Ruggles-Brise on behalf of the Tyne Rivers Trust a charity that was set up on 8th March 2005 at Hexham Racecourse.
Their aim is to continue the regeneration of the River Tyne and its tributaries which are on their way to being healthy again, but there are still many issues to be resolved.
The Tyne Rivers Trust wants people to help them identify the areas and issues it should concentrate on in the coming years. This will result in an Action Plan for the river and set the agenda for the next 10 years. The trust is holding a series of public meetings around the region over the next few weeks to get people of all interests to “Put Their Pin in the Map”
The five events are:-
February 27th – Cheviot Hotel, Bellingham
March 6th – Centre of Britain Hotel, Haltwhistle
March 9th – Hexham Mart
March 13th – Environment Agency, Tyneside House, Newcastle
April 5th – Raven Country Hotel, Ebchester, Co Durham
Each workshop lasts from 6.30pm – 8.30pm and light refreshments will be provided.
I am sure there will be some interest among members. It would be nice if someone could represent the club at one of the meetings and a write up for our next newsletter (due in May) would be good.
I will also add these items as separate events on our events page
