  • 4 ½ oz Porridge Oats
  • 3oz Demerara sugar
  • 4oz Margarine or butter
  • 1 Teaspoonful of golden syrup
  • Sunflower seeds to sprinkle on top


Pre-heat oven to gas mark5, 375° F, 190° C. Grease an 11x7ins shallow baking tray.

Mix oats and sugar in a bowl. Gently melt margarine and syrup without browning, pour on to oats and sugar and mix well.

Tip mix into tin and level. Sprinkle with sunflower seeds and press down with hands.

Bake on centre shelf for 15mins or until a nice pale gold colour. Cut the mixture into pieces while it is still warm. Leave in the tin until cold then store in an airtight tin.
